Ozi Warranty & Maintenance

Thank you for
choosing an OZI
aluminium trailer

Your boat trailer plays a vital role in your boating experience. Imagine not having a functioning trailer. You obviously would not be able to transport your boat to water but, more importantly, a faulty trailer during transport could endanger you, your family, and others around you. Trailer set up, maintenance and regular inspection are imperative.

Our Aluminium Trailers are universally suitable for most recreational boats and as such can be custom fit to accommodate your boat. Never exceed the ATM of the trailer. ATM = tare weight of the trailer + load weight.

WARRANTY

All Ozi Alloy trailers are covered by our warranty for a minimum of 12 months from the date of purchase and Ozi Alloy chassis are warranted for 3 years.

Warranty does not cover ‘off-road’ use. Warranty is transferable to subsequent purchasers . Warranty is applicable to parts and labour. A condition of warranty is that the trailer be returned to the original place of purchase @ the GCCM. Modifications or unauthorised repairs carried out by third parties will not be covered by warranty. Warranty will not cover wear and tear items such as Brake Linings, Wheel Bearings or Seals.

MODIFICATIONS

All Ozi Alloy Trailer Models are certified by an independent vehicle engineering company on the Gold Coast to meet or exceed the national vehicle design rules. Any modification, design change, or addition to the original design will void manufactures warranty unless approved in writing by the manufacturer.

TOWING YOUR TRAILER

It is important that the towball height on the vehicle suits the size of the wheels, so the trailer is parallel to the ground. If the towball height is too low, most of the weight will be on the front axle and potentially cause bearing failure, the trailer will fish tail over 80km/h and likewise if too high.

MAINTENANCE

Never exceed the ATM, the trailer tare and boat / load weight. Ensure your load is balanced and that approximately 6-10% of the total weight of boat and trailer is on the tow ball of the towing vehicle. Too much ‘ball weight’ will cause steering difficulties on the towing vehicle. Too little ‘ball weight’ will cause ‘fish tailing’ which is an extremely dangerous condition leading to loss of steering control and potentially fatal results.

Check your bearings regularly, clean and repack bearings every 6 months with new grease. See your invoice for bearing and grease seal sizes / codes. Do not put this off. There are mobile mechanics who will come out to your trailer, or book in and we can give the trailer a bearing service for you.

  • Be aware that when you submerge a warm hub into water, the contraction will suck water into the hub
  • Keep lubrication up to winch cogs & the jockey wheels
  • If a jockey wheel becomes tight to wind, dismantle & re- grease the worm drive
  • Ensure you connect a safety chain from the winch post to the bow eye in case of winch failure
  • Check nuts & bolts before every trip and ensure wheel nuts are correctly tensioned to 110Nm as we use a copper grease on the studs to reduce chance of nuts seizing (do not over-tighten wheel nuts)
  • Do not over-tighten the tie down ratchet straps as they can pull tons of torque which can flex the trailer and effect towing stability
